AI & Digitalisation
Artificial Intelligence and Law
The Legal Tech Centre at the University of Würzburg is actively shaping the future of law and technology – with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI). It researches legal issues of the digital age, classifies technological developments and prepares students specifically for the opportunities and challenges of AI. The Legal Tech Centre receives support from the Hilgendorf Chair and the AI and Robot Law Research Centre, which contribute their expertise in research and teaching.
DLD Future Hub: Impact of AI 2025 in Munich
In September 2025, the Legal Tech Centre, together with the Hilgendorf Chair, participated in the DLD Future Hub: Impact of AI in Munich. The international conference brought together leading representatives from science, business and politics – including OpenAI, DeepL, Palantir, Google and Minister President Markus Söder.
AI Legal Revolution 2025 in Würzburg
At the AI Legal Revolution in Würzburg, the Legal Tech Centre attended a panel discussion on the future of legal education in the age of AI. Prof. Dr. Dr. Eric Hilgendorf, member of the Bavarian AI Council and the European Commission's High-Level Expert Group on AI, contributed key perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of AI in legal education.
Integration of AI into studies
In the coming winter semester, the Legal Tech Centre is planning a practice-oriented course on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Law’, which aims to teach students how to use AI systems responsibly, reflectively and competently.
The aim is to prepare future lawyers for the structural changes in the legal industry at an early stage and to sensitise them to the opportunities and risks of modern technologies.
