Logging
Due to security-relevant events, relevant access data is stored each time the web servers within the uni-wuerzburg.de domain are accessed. The web servers are operated for the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg by the computer centre. However, additional web servers may be operated directly by the faculties, which are obliged to proceed in accordance with the regulations applicable to the university's web server.
Depending on the access protocol used, the log data record contains information with the following content:
IP address of the requesting computer
Date and time of the request
Access method/function requested by the requesting computer
Input values transmitted by the requesting computer (e.g. file name)
Access status of the web server (file transferred, file not found, command not executed, etc.)
URL from which the file was requested/the desired function was initiated
Browser identification.
Purpose of the logging
The stored data is used for the purpose of identifying and tracking unauthorised access attempts and access to the web server. The data is otherwise only used to create anonymised access statistics to optimise the website. Access profiles are not created.
Retention period
The logged data is stored for a period of three months and then deleted, unless a recognised web attack leads to the attacker being prosecuted under civil or criminal law.
Analysis
The analysis is carried out by the respective operator of the web server on behalf of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.
Active components
Cookies set by the University of Würzburg are only used for client-side storage of user-related configuration settings for the duration of the session (e.g. preferred language).
