    Certificate in Common Law-Studies

    The department of law at the University of Würzburg offers a Certificate in Common Law Studies for students who complete a certain number of courses in legal English, US-American, English and European law. The requirements for the certificate in Common Law Studies are:

    -Legal English I
    -Legal English II
    -Legal Writing
    -Discussing Legal Issues
    -Introduction to English Law
    -Introduction to US Law
    -Basics of European Union Law
    -Additionally students must complete two elective courses in English law or US-American Law such as US Constitutional Law, US Fundamental and Civil Rights, US Civil Procedure or US Commercial Law.

    The certificate is issued both in German and in English language.

     

    Advanced Certificate in Common Law Studies

    For students who strive to deepen their knowledge in legal English and the common law legal system even further we offer the Advanced Certificate in Common Law Studies. The requirements for the Advanced Certificate in Common Law Studies are:

    -Legal English I
    -Legal English II
    -Legal English III + ILEC Exam preparation
    -Legal Writing
    -Discussing US Legal Issues
    -Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC)
    -Introduction to English Law
    -Introduction to US Law
    -one introductory course on an “exotic” legal system such as Introduction to Indian law or introduction to the Law in Subsahara-Africa.
    -Basics of European Union Law
    -Additionally students must complete two elective courses in English law or US-American Law such as US Constitutional Law, US Fundamental and Civil Rights, US Civil Procedure or US Commercial Law.
    -Finally, in order to be awarded the Advanced Certificate in Common Law Studies students, must complete at least one internship in an English institution such as the Law Firm Dua Associates, New Delhi, India or at the Departement of Justice in Windhoek, Namibia.

    In addition to that the participation in a Moot Court or another internship in an international law Firm can be mentioned on the certificate.

    The certificate is issued both in German and English.
