Module Course of Study - Crime and Security in the Digital Age

Crime and Security in the Digital Age (Criminal Law), 2nd - 6th August 2021

The Law Faculty of Würzburg, Germany, welcomes law students and young professionals from all over the world to take part in an online program on Crime and Scurity in the Digital Age presented by  Prof. Dr. Tobias Reinbacher. The first 20 applicants will be granted scholarships worth 200 Euros each. Additional to this years´s online school, all participants will be guaranteed a spot in next year´s school on site in Würzburg without additional fees.

The program will take place from Monday, 2nd to Friday, 6th August 2021 online via Zoom.

Lectures and workshops will be held in English by renowned legal experts from different German universities. Confirmed speakers:

The course program will include presentations on:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Agents
  • Hate Speech and Fake News
  • The Criminal Liability of Internet Providers
  • Cybercoins, eCash and Blockchain – Internet money as a New Challenge for Criminal Law
  • Predictive Policing
  • Digital Sentencing
  • Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and more

The participants will also attend workshops on these specific areas of criminal law.  In these workshops they will discuss the approach towards the topic in their respective countries with their fellow students. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance (2 ECTS points).

Financial expense

As a participant of the module course you will have to bear the following costs:

  • Tuition fee of 142,70 Euros

 

Scholarship

The first 20 applicants will be granted scholarships of 200 Euros each after their participation in our Module Course on Crime & Security in the Digital Age.

In order to apply for the course you must meet the following requirements:

  • you have no difficulties in following lectures in English
  • you are/ have been a law student or are a professional working in the field of Criminal Law
  • you have obtained a university entrance qualification which entitles you to study at a German University*.

If you meet all of the requirements above you can enter the application procedure which consists of three stages (see below).

 

* If you are not sure if your degree allows to enrol at a German University please check the  information provided by the DAAD.

1. Application by electronic form and e-mail by 31st January 2021

Please apply by the electronic application form provided below by 31st January 2021 to state your personal and your academic or professional information first.

In order for you to be admitted we need you to send us the following documents by e-mail. Please attach the individual documents (pdf format) with the document's content and your last name in the title (e.g.: "your last name"_passport) and send it to criminallawschool@jura.uni-wuerzburg.de. All the documents must be written in Latin lettering.

  • Scan of the completed and signed application form for a module course of study
  • Scan of your valid ID or passport
  • Scan of your health insurance card and your European Health Insurance Card * (only if you are a citizen of an EU Member State)
  • Scan of all your school certificates which entitle you to be admitted to a German university, including subjects and grades**
  • Scan of your Higher Education Entrance Examination, if required in your home country
  • Scan of enrolment certificate of your home university
  • CV covering everything up to the date of application in English

* In case you do not already have an EHIC, you can get a temporary EHIC certificate from your insurance company. Please note that your EHIC or a temporary certificate must cover the whole semester from 12.04.2021–16.07.2021.
** If you are not sure if your degree allows to enroll at a German university please check the  information provided by the DAAD.

 


2. Selection process and checking of documents

After 31st January 2021 all applications will be evaluated and checked for completeness. You will be notified about the result of your application by e-mail around the end of March 2021.

The consent may be revoked at any given point in time. Other personal data provided by you before and during these Summer Studies will be deleted after the Summer Studies and the administration it entails has been completed.
