Johannes Härtlein

Johannes Härtlein studied law at the University of Würzburg from 2018. He completed his specialisation in criminal sciences. In July 2023, he passed the First Legal Examination. He has been a research assistant at the chair of Prof Dr Dr Eric Hilgendorf since November 2023.

His research interests lie in particular in the general regulation of artificial intelligence and the criminal law assessment of generative AI systems. Together with Prof Dr Dr Hilgendorf, he publishes a legal commentary on the European AI Regulation.

Johannes Härtlein also heads the Legal Tech Center of the Faculty of Law at the University of Würzburg, which deals with issues relating to the digitalisation of legal processes and technologies in the legal system.
