Workshop on the book launch "Stadt-Land-Boden. Verbindende Bodenpolitik zwischen Stadt und Land"
| Date: | 10/24/2025, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM |
On October 24, 2025, a workshop will be held in connection with the publication of the volume “Stadt-Land-Boden. Verbindende Bodenpolitik zwischen Stadt und Land” at the premises of the Erlöserschwestern (Josefsaal, access via Bibrastraße 6).
Land policy issues are forward-looking because they determine whether our livelihoods will be preserved or destroyed. In today's debates on access to, distribution and use of land, the question of ownership is being raised anew: Where should land be privately owned, and where should it be managed as common property? And how can the law prevent the concentration of ownership and ensure that land is used for the common good? The contributions respond with a land policy that connects urban and rural areas and present initiatives and instruments from social movements, science, and administration that enable a more equitable distribution, a more democratic and self-determined administration, and a sustainable use of land.
The volume “Stadt-Land-Boden” is the result of an initial workshop that took place in November 2023 as part of the research project Reclaiming Common Wealth. Towards a Law and Political Economy of Land Commons, led by Isabel Feichtner at The New Institute in Hamburg. The workshop was intended to facilitate interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exchange on land policy for socio-ecological transformations and to kick-start sustainable networking among actors—including activists, researchers, politicians, and administrators—in cities, rural areas, and in between. The volume (open access here) is the result of that workshop. The event in October 2025 aims to further develop the topics addressed in the anthology and to continue networking for transformative and transdisciplinary land and soil research and policy that connects urban and rural areas. The workshop on October 24, 2025, starting at 9 a.m. in the Josefsaal at Bibrastraße 6, will provide a space for this.
Please register for the workshop by October 21, 2025, at: jura-p-oerecht@uni-wuerzburg.de.
