About the program:

Due to an increase in importance of digitalization in almost every profession new, complex juridical problems have emerged which cannot be dealt with sufficiently by the basic juridical education.

The Master Program Digitalization and Law aims at managing the rapidly growing amount of digitalization-related legal issues by enabling a detailed specialization on the basis of a basic juridical education. The LL.M. Digitalization and Law is an interdisciplinary program providing qualifying knowledge in the areas of IT-law, legal tech, AI, informatics and data protection law. It is internationally oriented and taught entirely in English.
 

Upon completion of the program, two degrees can be obtained:

The academic degree „Master of Laws“ (LL.M.) as well as a confirmation for the theoretical part of the IT law specialist lawyer (Fachanwalt IT-Recht, § 14k FAO) for lawyers admitted in Germany. This specialist lawyer title is awarded by the German Bar Association, for which further requirements must be met, in particular a 3-year licence to practice as a lawyer in Germany (§ 3 FAO) and the acquisition of special practical experience (§ 5 para. 1 lit. r FAO).

Target Group:

The program is designed for professionals working in the field of information technology teaching basic legal knowledge.

The postgraduate Master's degree programme is aimed at all graduates of law degree programmes with practical professional experience.
The LL.M. is also suitable for graduates of non-law degree programmes, provided that their studies have included at least basic legal knowledge. 
The programme is additionally aimed at lawyers admitted in Germany who wish to acquire the special theoretical knowledge required to become a specialist lawyer in IT law (Fachanwalt IT Law, § 14k FAO) for further professional training.
