Handbook of Criminal Law

Together with Prof Dr Brian Valerius (University of Bayreuth) and Prof Dr Hans Kudlich (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), Prof Dr Hilgendorf is working on the publication of a handbook of criminal law in 9 volumes. Originally 10 volumes were planned.

The work is modelled on the well-known "Handbuch des Staatsrechts" (Handbook of Constitutional Law) edited by Prof. Dr Isensee and Prof. Dr Kirchhof and will be published from 2018 in a total of 9 volumes, which will also include criminal procedural law. The aim of the publication is to provide a comprehensive presentation of German criminal law as an area of law that has also received great recognition and resonance abroad, detached from the challenges of the moment, constantly and permanently accompanied from a critical distance. The handbook will place dogmatics - in a positively connoted sense - at the centre. It is primarily focussed on the fundamentals and - as far as possible and necessary - on their further development and is intended to contribute to placing other criminal law studies on a solid foundation.

The Handbook of Criminal Law is published by C.F. Müller, part of the Otto Schmidt publishing group.
