vhb courses on criminal law and interdisciplinary areas of law

Study independently of time and place - the CLASSIC and OPEN vhb courses make it possible! We promote the development and realisation of cross-university online teaching.

In co-operation with the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb), the Hilgendorf Chair offers eight online courses on various areas of law. Registration with the vhb and for the CLASSIC vhb courses is free of charge for all students at a Bavarian university. In addition, the chair provides two online courses on the OPEN-vhb platform, which can be used by anyone interested after registering free of charge. All courses are continuously supervised by members of the chair. Among other things, they respond to questions from students, organise exams that take place online or in person, and update or supplement the course content. The courses are particularly characterised by their focus-oriented content, the interactive and varied presentation and the various options for self-monitoring.

You can find more information on the registration process and the entire vhb programme at: https://www.vhb.org/

Even the structure of the course is practically orientated towards the structure of criminal proceedings, with a chapter dedicated to each stage of the proceedings. • Scope: 16 hours
  • Target group: People interested in culture and law
  • Confirmation of participation after completing 80% of the self-tests
  • Content: The focus of the course is on the basics of culture and interculturality. The course emphasises the specific links with legal issues in the current context. Questions such as the relationship between law and religion, law as a cultural phenomenon or the influence of ("new") cultural forms on current law are not only a "hotspot" in media and socio-political discourse, but also occupy companies, courts and universities. Last but not least, they characterise our everyday lives.

  • Scope: 15 hours
  • Target group: People interested in digitalisation and law from all over the world (course language: English)
  • Confirmation of participation upon completion of 80% of the self-tests
  • Content: Digitalisation has now completely permeated our everyday lives. It is promoted and limited in many different ways by the law. Individual sensational cases often find their way into the media: accidents caused by autonomous vehicles; chatbots that insult their users; large-scale use of care robots, e.g. in Asia. Interested parties can learn the necessary background knowledge through this course in order to be able to critically rethink the problems of such cases.
