    WINTER SCHOOL 2018/2019 - Faculty of Law - 11.02.2019 - 15.02.2019

    On behalf of the Faculty of Law we gladly inform you about this year's

    WINTER SCHOOL 2018/2019 , 11.02.2019 - 15.02.2019

    The Law Faculty of the University of Würzburg is offering a two week course on "German and European Commercial Law" in February 2019. The course will cover a wide range of subjects such as contract law, European private law, conflict of laws, European cartel law, German and European corporate law, as well as criminal law and white collar crimes. Most of the courses will be taught in English. Enrolment is open until 30 November 2018 and only for international students who have not previously been enrolled at a German university. The university is able to offer some financial support and award all participants a scholarship of about EUR 300 which covers the registration fee of about EUR 150 and leaves about EUR 150 to the participants' free disposal, e.g. to cover some of the travelling costs

    We have some great news for the incoming Erasmus Students of the winter term 2018/2019: Two additional English Speaking Classes  are offered, giving you the opportunity to get to know the basics of the German Law System.

    Introduction to German Administrative Law ; 2,5 ECTS

    03.11.2018 & 04.11.2018, 09:00-18:00 (Venue: ALTE UNI, Hörsaal IV)

    This course is a block event and will include a final exam taking place on 30.11., 14:00-16:00.  (Venue: ALTE UNI, Hörsaal IV)

    Introduction to German Constitutional Law; 5,0 ECTS

    Mondays: 08:00 - 10:00 (Venue: NEUE UNI, Hörsaal 315)

    A final exam will be offered at the end of the winter term.

    Description: The course is specifically designed for foreign students and provides a broad overview of German constitutional law. After some brief remarks about the consitutional history and the principles of the state structure, we will take a closer look at the fundamental rights guaranteed by the German constitution. This following are an overview of the structure and functioning of the legislative bodies (Bundestag and Bundesrat) and some remarks about the federal gouvernment and the federal president. Based on this, we will examine the law-making process and the relationship between the German Constitution with international and EU law. After the winter break we will focus on the judiciary and (if possible) include a visit to a court trial. Finally we will adress the process of changes to the constitution and take a brief look at the fiscal constitution.
